The 4000 sq. ft. harvester
is a one of a kind
technical masterpiece seated on a floating barge. It allows selective harvesting of the algae at the peak of its bloom. |
In the Upper Klamath Lake, spring fed area along Eagle Ridge, our harvester selectively
harvests the algae just as it blooms. It can't
get any better than this. |

The technical term APHANIZOMENON (genus) and FLOS-AQUAE (species)
are actually zoological terms of classification that literally
mean "Invisible living flower of water"
in Greek. |
Filamentous colonies look like 1/2 " long grass clippings in
the water. They exhibit intelligent spacing and behavior. It is
thought that Afa started in Klamath Lake about 7000 years ago and
haven't changed much in the last billion years, achieving a kind
of biological perfection. |
